Esther’s Challenge – Laugh-along-a-Limerick

Happy New Week to you all and welcome, once again, to Esther Chilton’s regular Monday challenge. Sorry that I am a bit late. I am fortunate enough to be spending my week at the Swanwick Writers’ Summer School. Tonight’s entertainment is an open mic poetry evening.

Today, Esther’s one-word prompt is RHYME. So can you write a limerick using the word RHYME in it somewhere?

If you feel like writing a limerick about something else that is currently on your mind, have a go! Just let it flow. Delight us all with your creativity.

  1. I tried to make my poem Rhyme
With a matching word on each line.
    However I tried
    It just didn’t glide..
    I found I had run out of….
    ….. Thyme!

I once knew a great rap star
He was the best rhymer by far
    Give ‘m a topic
    He’ll surely hip-hop it
    Then add drums and guitar

  3. Janice would only work ‘Just in Time’,
    The aspiration seemed quite sublime,
    Except in a crunch
    With no time for lunch,
It, oft, disturbed the rhythm and rhyme!

When I saw the prompt I thought, ‘this time’
    I’ll pen a poem; it’ll be sublime,’
‘I mean to say, it can’t be hard,’
‘It’s in the blood, the name’s Le Pard.’
Now all I need is to find a rhyme…

    BALLOON does rhyme with moon,
Saturn beat Jupiter in 2019, raccoon!
    Ringed planet having 82 moons,
    Largest planet only 79, moans!
    Saturn pricked Jupiter’s inflated balloon!
