Happy Monday to you all and welcome, once again, to Esther Chilton’s regular kick-off-the-week challenge.
Today, Esther’s one-word prompt is HOPE. So can you write a limerick using the word HOPE in it somewhere?
These are strange days for almost everyone in this world of ours. The COP26 conference has just finished and the clear conclusion is that the climate crisis is real. There are lots of words but the solutions lie in international collaboration and real action. My HOPE is that we will see governments acting with urgency.
Tell us about your HOPEs in a limerick. See if you can make us laugh.

If you prefer to side-step the weekly prompt, please feel free to ignore it and write a limerick to suit your current mood and feelings. Just let it flow. Delight us all with your creativity.

I hope my back will be alright
It started hurting in the night
I took a pill
And hope it will
Be better by the morning light!

They say that we should just hope
Not sit around and just mope
So she jumped in her car
And didn’t go far
She found what she needed, some dope

In his prayers Derrick asked, “I hope,
that one day they’ll ask me to be Pope.”
“Can you perchance,” he asked God,
“Pull strings, to get me the nod?”
And for once God replied, saying, “Nope.”

I saw this post and said “Yea!”
I can Limericize today!
But, oh blinking shoot
My pen is quite mute
And I have nothing to say…

Do I get extra points for inventing a word, “Limericize – to write a Limerick?” lol It rhymes with exercise….

I like your new word.
However, as it stems from the city of Limerick, I think that it would be only fair to put its adoption into the dictionary to the vote, so that the Shannonsiders can decide for themselves.
BTW. Where is the HOPE in your rhyme? I suppose, with an empty pen, that there is very little HOPE.

lol, I had started to write a limerick and got stuck, so started over. But somehow after scratching my head trying to figure otu a fix, I forgot which word in the original Limerick was today’s key word… Oh well, i did say say I had nothing… Hmm, How about:
I saw this post and said “Yea!”
I can Limericize today!
But, oh end of hope
I now feel like a dope
For I have nothing to say…

Her sexy eyebrows gave me great hope
That some fine day, we might elope.
My proposal rejected
Left me somewhat dejected.
I freely admit: I can hardly cope.
