Esther’s Challenge – Laugh-along-a-Limerick

Happy Monday to you all and welcome, once again, to Esther Chilton’s regular kick-off-the-week challenge.

The weather around here is looking grey and dismal at the beginning of the week. That makes me feel a little bit GLUM.

And that is Esther’s one word prompt for our limericks today. Perhaps you can you write a limerick using the word GLUM in it somewhere which will cheer the rest of us up?

If you prefer to side-step the weekly prompt, please feel free to ignore it and write a limerick to suit your current mood and feelings. Just let it flow. Delight us all with your creativity.

  1. I woke up this morning feeling glum
But then I ate a lovely plum
    My mood enhanced
    I jumped up and danced
And signalled my approval with my thumb!

  3. Ruth says:

Winter weather makes some people glum
Wrapped up warmly but still they succumb
To the cold, feet like stone
    Fingers chilled to the bone
    All extremities left feeling numb

  4. Bony Tony was seldom glum
He’d oft go out in search of fun.
    With David Nobbs
    And Big Bad Bob,
They’d bash their drums, pa rum pum pum pum.

SMILE and breathe in extra breath,
Whenever glum and afraid of death!
    Consume space, sunshine, air, water,
    Fructochlorophyll smoothies, sans slaughter;
Empty stomach until Midday, for undeath!

In her years in opera, Greta Plumme
Had never been so dreadfully glum.
    While practising Tosca
    She sadly lost her
Voice. Now she can only hum.
