Esther’s Challenge – Laugh-along-a-Limerick

Happy Monday to you all and welcome to Christmas week and to Esther Chilton’s regular kick-off-the-week challenge.

We had a lot of fun last week, composing limericks that contained the word SLIP.

This week, Esther’s one word prompt for our limericks is SANTA. So, are you able to write a limerick using the word SANTA in it somewhere which will amuse the rest of us?

The big question on my lips is, “Will you be good or will you be naughty?” The filling of your Christmas stocking could rest on your answer!

If you prefer to side-step the weekly prompt, avoiding difficult questions from SANTA, please feel free to ignore our prompt and write a limerick to suit your current mood and feelings. Just let it flow. Delight us all with your creativity.

  1. Santa rode out on his sleigh
Thought deliveries would take all day
    But he finished very quick
Because his reindeers had a nip
    Of energy boosting “SUPER” hay!

  2. Does Santa Claus have CCTV?
For if I’m naughty, he knows it was me.
    I tried to be good
    And not quite so rude,
But Bony Tony was rude to me!

Will the travel ban keep Santa away?
Or will he get through on his sleigh?
    It’ll keep me awake
    For goodness sake
    Wondering what’ll come Christmas day

  4. A shortage of drivers, they say
    Threatens turkeys for Christmas day
But don’t fear girls and boys
    You’ll still get your toys
    Cos Santa delivers by sleigh!

  7. I never believed in Santa
    This was my constant mantra
    Until one day
    All I’ll really say
    My mantra became a cantata
